
US-based autonomous delivery robot startup Nuro is laying off 30% (about 340) of its workforce as it shifts focus towards R&D and away from commercial operations. The company, which has raised $2.13bn, is seeking to extend its capital runway and has faced two consecutive years of lay-offs. Nuro co-founders Dave Ferguson and Jiajun Zhu said that the company needed to be more efficient with its balance sheet, and that the current capital environment, including a deep tech funding retraction, meant re-focusing on the areas where it was "most efficient" as a startup.
